Chase Burkhart

The cornerstone of Burkhart’s solo performance is his classically trained voice, which he accompanies with fingerstyle technique on a nylon-string guitar. His original music fuses Jazz harmony and his baritone vocal range/timbre within a Folky/Alt-Country aesthetic. Burkhart’s lyrics reveal a penchant for nostalgic tributes, rhythmic rhymes, and alliteration. During a typical live solo performance, audiences can expect to hear a mix of Burkhart’s own original songs within a collection of covers highlighting a variety genres including Jazz, Folk, Country, R&B, Rock, and Pop.

Burkhart has been hired for a variety of events over the years, most notably to sing with Minneapolis-based professional choir the VocalEssence “Ensemble Singers”. Highlights include performances at the 2014 World Choral Symposium, Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor, and backing up The Rolling Stones for their final encore song at TCF Bank Stadium in 2015. In addition to numerous wedding/funeral event contracts, Chase has composed/performed guitar music for original stage productions at the MN Fringe Festival (2016) and Open Eye Figure Theater (2021).

A product of the wonderful arts community in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Burkhart earned both his Bachelor’s in Vocal Music Education (2011) and Master’s in Music Ed. (2020) from NDSU in Fargo. Burkhart moved to Southern Minnesota in 2013, teaching music in the public school districts of Minneapolis, Mankato, Tri-City United (Le Center/Montgomery), and most recently Prior Lake-Savage. Additionally, Burkhart is an active worship music director, having served the faith communities of North Presbyterian Church in North Saint Paul, Lynnhurst UCC in Minneapolis, Zion UCC in Le Sueur, and most recently Prairie Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie.
